Mindgate (2021)

Wearable Data Port

For: Ambient Interfaces
Project by: Kevin Tang, Kai Zhang

Introduction
This project explores how crude technology can prompt and aid physical human interaction in a world where advanced social media algorithms dominate people’s daily socialization. It roughly matches two people’s status through a blinking LED port. Instead of giving an application, Mindgate inquiries the potential of using rudimentary digits as a communication medium in in-person interaction.

Body language as Interface We started by examining social body interactions, such as handshake, hug, chest bump, and fist bump. We saw these touches as potential interfaces to transfer data. We investigated our feeling when we do such actions and how do we exchange our thoughts through these physical contacts.
